Abstract

Mature endosperm of Putranjiva roxburghii Wall., an autotroph, formed callus on the nutrient medium. The endosperm callus was compact on WB + IAA (2.0 ppm) + KN (5.0 ppm) + CH (1000 ppm), and differentiated shoots, and eventually, plantlets. Of the auxins and cytokinins tested, IAA at 1.2 × 10 −5 M and 6-( γ,γ -dimethylallylamino)purine at 2.4 × 10 −5 M proved most effective for the differentiation of shoots.
