Abstract
Based on the mass spectrometric signals of neutral Cu-trimers obtained with a Secondary Neutral Microprobe we discuss if and how small sputtered metallic clusters are generated by agglomeration of individually ejected atoms from one single collision cascade. The agglomeration mechanism is discussed in detail as well as the formation of excited cluster states.
