Abstract
The article discusses topical issues of the focus of the educational process at a higher educational institution on the formation of such personality qualities as patriotism, pride in the achievements of one’s people, and sensitivity to the native language, which is crucial for students of such a major as Journalism. It is the media that largely contribute to the formation of public opinion, therefore, in our opinion, professionals in this type of activity should have high morality, decency, and moral principles. All these qualities are formed in different ways, including through love for their mother tongue.
