Abstract

Formation of associates between single-or double-charged anions of sulfophthalein dye Phenol Red and single-charged cations of cyanines in aqueous solutions was considered. The association constants were estimated from the spectral data. Geometric and energy characteristics of the associates were calculated. The suitability of the associates formed by Phenol Red for quantitative determination of cationic surfactants in aqueous solutions was examined.
