Abstract
Bulk metallic glasses of Fe61Co7Zr10Mo5W2M15(1+x%) containing addition elements of M (M=B, Al, Si, C and P) and Fe74Al4Sn2P12B4Si4 by substituting Sri for Ga were prepared in rod of diameter up to 2.5 mm from low purity raw materials by a copper mould casting. The experimental results show that a small amount of metal and metalloid element addition is effective for improvement of the formation ability of Fe6Co7Zr10Mo5W2M15 alloy, even though the raw elements are of low purity. However, the width of supercooled liquid region decreases in the increase of M addition. The substitution Sn for Ga in Fe74Al4Ga2Nb2P10Si4B4 alloy and the partial replacement of Mo with Ni can be used for the synthesis of the Fe-based BMG alloys.
