Abstract

AbstractHigh‐voltage electron microscopy was used to study the micromechanical processes of deformation directly on thin deformed samples of rubber‐modified, high‐impact polymers. In these polymers the microprocesses are closely connected with the initiation and formation of crazes. Craze formation with its effects on the fracture toughness are discussed in dependence on several important morphological factors, particularly on the rubber volume content, particle diameter, and particle diameter distribution.
