Abstract
Formation of a narrow group of intense lines in the emission and photoexcitation spectra, corresponding to the transitions between the electron shells with the same principal quantum number is considered. There are two reasons of such an effect, namely, the strong Coulomb exchange interaction and the configuration interaction with a symmetric exchange of symmetry. The conditions and regularities of their manifestation in the isoelectronic and isonuclear sequences are analyzed.
