Abstract

The focus of this paper is the perception of teachers about the Continued Education Program “Knowledge Web”, promoted by The State Board of Education of Sao Paulo and offered in the city of Santos, through partnerships between the Regional Directory of Teaching and universities of the city. The research allows for recognizing that the conception upon which the program Knowledge Web lies is oriented by the classic perspective of teachers continued education; conflicting, therefore, with the idea of continued education that grants to the teacher the role of subject of his/her own permanent education, in a constant movement that privileges the dialogical action between teachers and institutions. The statements of the participating teachers reveal their expectations in taking part in the design of these courses as subject of their own education for the improvement of their teaching capacity, as well as for personal improvement in the specific area of knowledge they teach as integral part of the school’s educational project. The study also shows the need for dialogue between the managing institutions, the training institutions and the schools for the planning of such processes
