Abstract
In 2004, Brian Merrilees retired from forty years’ service at the University of Toronto. To mark his outstanding contribution to the field of Medieval Studies, the Canadian Society of Medievalists is pleased to offer this special issue of its journal Florilegium. The twelve articles drawn together in the present volume have been prepared in his honour by former students, colleagues, and friends from North America, Europe, and New Zealand. The articles highlight the wide influence of Brian Merrilees’s research, especially in Anglo-Norman language and literature, and in medieval grammar and lexicography. Readers of this Festschrift will appreciate the resonance of his work over the course of a long and distinguished career.
