Abstract

The following essays in this special issue of the Journal of World Christianity are slightly revised papers presented during two panels on The Cambridge Dictionary of Christianity in Atlanta: one at the American Academy of Religion (October 30, 2010); the other at the Society of Biblical Literature (November 21, 2010). As the Editor of this Dictionary I was asked to write a response to these papers. Yet, it soon became clear that it made more sense for me to write a “foreword.” Introducing The Cambridge Dictionary of Christianity and how it was produced will be more helpful to the readers.
