Abstract
: This is a foreword to the collected volume “Strategies of Interbalkan communcation: Translation” (Centre of Linguocultural Research Balcanica. Proceedings of Round Tables. 7). Translation in the research of the Moscow School of Balkan Linguistics is interpreted in the wide semiotic sense, that is, not only as transformation of texts with the means of another language code, but also as semiotic transition between various codes of the Model of the World, adaptations of works of literature, and interpretation of cultural phenomena in new contexts.
