Abstract

ABSTRACTA summary of forensic dentistry cases at the Laboratoire des sciences judiciaires et de medecine legale, Ministere de la securite publique, Province of Quebec is reported. Statistics from 1973 to 1995 include: forensic and non-forensic dental identification, crime scene recovered dental specimens and bitemark data. Forensic dental identification is divided into antemortem and postmortem statistics. The level of confidence in identification is described as: positive, possible or presumptive identification, inconclusive or insufficient, exclusion, and elimination. Current trends are portrayed and a personal forensic dental database is illustrated.
