Abstract

Within a dissertation a method was developed that allows predicting the safety benefit of selected assistance systems. This article by Volkswagen and the company Verkehrsunfallforschung GmbH, Dresden, Germany, describes the methodology, the used software and its modules, and it shows the results attained when examining a brake assist system and an automatic emergency braking system.
