Abstract

During the history of Brazilian politics, manifestations of the public opinion in moments of crisis have been marked by great mobilizations that get even greater at each process of rupture. Acts in defense of democracy as a legal principle guaranteed by the Law, peaceful walks of the joyful youth or demonstrations of citizenship defined nowadays by hashtags take place on mass media which publish – and categorize – the civil anger. The following article sets the hypothesis of agenda setting upon public participation in protests pro-presidential deposition in 53 years of Brazilian politics (from João Goulart’s presidential term of office to Michel Temer’s). Methodologically, it was used electronic news clipping service as data collection technique and discourse analysis as data treatment device.
