Abstract

An explicit solution for the Green function of the infinite medium in linear elastic materials is known only for isotropic and transversely isotropic materials and for some other cases obtained by a linear transformation. In this Note, we consider a family of linear elastic materials characterized by the property that for some elastic parameters, the polar diagram giving the value of these parameters in different directions is ellipsoidal. We show first that this family of materials depends on 12 independent parameters and that the elastic moduli tensor of these materials can be defined by two second order symmetric tensors. We show then that for these materials an explicit solution for the Green function of the infinite medium can be given and we give a first expression for this solution. To cite this article: A.
