Abstract

It is a well-known fact that the fiction of any country uses and nourishes the folklore and mythological sources. Folklore and mythology is an inexhaustible source from which one can constantly extract fables, stories, and passages for fiction. In this respect, the current Georgian fiction is not distinguished either. In this report, I will outline current Georgian poetry in the context of folk and mythological allusions and metatexts. In particular, I will single out several contemporary Georgian poets, whose works are actively influenced by the folklore and mythological sources as well as hence allusions and metatexts. In order to draw conclusion, I have aimfully chosen hermeneutic, analytical and structuralist methods of research for the texts.
