Abstract
Abstract : Advanced materials are usually composite materials for structural components to carry loads and/or functional components to accomplish specific tasks. Oxide ceramic, oxide fiber reinforced ceramic composites and in-situ composites stand out as those which provide best properties in oxidizing environment. The oxide materials are essential to withstand severe loads in the oxidizing environment a severe conditions. The oxide ceramics and oxide composites is a crucial research area because it's importance to air breathing engine technology of US Air Force, Department of defense and US civilian industry. The components of the oxide ceramics and their composites are essential for the future aerospace industry and the information of their behavior is critical to understand the response of composites. Three focused topical session on the Oxide ceramics and Composites has been organized at the 27 Annual Cocoa Beach Conference and Exposition on Advanced Ceramics & Composites meeting. These sessions were: (i) Intrinsic Properties of Oxides (Magnetic, Electrical, Optical, Mechanical), (ii) Microstructures and Mechanical Behavior (iii) Novel Processing Techniques. The proposed meeting provided a forum for discussing the essential scientific issues involved in the development and use of high temperature materials.
