Abstract

For perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) system, low flying head is necessary in order to get optimum performances. In this study we designed low flying slider called Y-slider whose flying height was 25nm at 10 m/s disk velocity. We also fabricated a thin film magnetic head for PMR by combination of low flying slider and a single pole head in which FeZrN high Bsat film(Bsat=2T) was used as a main pole. Electrical performances of the head obtained were; TAA= 200 nVp-p/μm·m/s·T at 15kFCI, overwrite value= -41dB with 2580Oe Hc 50nm thick medium, and the maximum recording density=350kFCI by MFM observation.
