Abstract

Abstract Fluorescence microscopic observation of clusters of pyrene moieties in the mixed monolayer assembly of pyrene(Py)-substituted fatty acid (Py(CH2)nCOOH; n = 9, 15) and normal fatty acid (CH3(CH2)nCOOH; n = 18, 14) deposited from a water surface on a quartz plate was carried out. The cluster size was changed drastically depending upon difference between chain lengths of the constituent fatty acids.
