Abstract
Dr. W. H. Taylor, the author of this volume, is Consulting Chemical Pathologist in charge of the Department of Chemical Pathology, the United Liverpool Hospitals, Director of Studies in Chemical Pathology, University of Liverpool, and tutor in Natural Science at St. Peter's College, University of Oxford. The purpose of this book is clearly stated in the preface where the author suggests that it shall meet the immediate and essential demands of doctors and students in their daily hospital practice. The book is divided into five sections. In the first section, Dr. Taylor deals with disorders of water and electrolyte balance. The syndromes concerned with a deficiency or an excess of water, sodium, magnesium, and potassium are presented as well as acid-base disturbances and metabolic response to injury and shock.
