Abstract

The fluctuation-induced diamagnetism above the superconducting critical temperature Tc was investigated in detail in the thin films of Nb/Si superconductive multilayers. Samples were prepared in an ultrahigh vacuum by electron-beam deposition method. When the Si layers were thick, two-dimensional behavior was observed and when they were thin, three-dimensional one was observed. An intermediate sample showed a crossover between the two- and three-dimensional behaviors. The experimental results were in good agreement with the theory of Gerhardts (Phys. Rev. B9 (1974) 2945).
