Abstract

This paper investigates the ability of a multiple linear regression (MLR) model to improve the accuracy for the estimation of flood quantiles in ungauged sites. To assess the effectiveness of this model, 70 catchments in the province of Peninsular Malaysia have been used as case studies. The performance of the MLR model with Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA) is compared with the MLR models using various statistics measures (MSE, RMSE, MAE, and MAPE). The gauges that are tested on represent ungauged sites. The results of the comparison indicate that the MLR with HCA model is more accurate and perform better than MLR.
