Abstract

The Yellow River is the second largest river in China, flowing through Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, and Shandong provinces as well as autonomous regions. The total length of the Yellow River is 5,464 km, with a drainage area of 752,400 sg.km. The upper reach of the Yellow River is from the river source to Hekouzhen in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, the middle reach from Hekouzhen to Taohuayu near the city of Zhengzhou, and the lower reach from Taohuayu to the estuary into the Gulf of the Baohai Sea (see Fig, 1).KeywordsLower ReachPeak DischargeMiddle ReachYellow River BasinFlood ProtectionThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
