Abstract

The analytical modeling of structural behavior of a trapezoidal hybrid beam (THB) is presented within this paper. THB consists of combination of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) laminate and ferrocement which acts as a shell for protecting the Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures from external corrosion. By using strain compatibility and the force equilibrium the equations were derived from finding the flexural capacity for positive bending moment. The effect of FRP sheet, conventional reinforcing bars on the flexural capacity of THB section was studied and design charts are proposed for designers for selecting the quantity of FRP laminates and conventional rebars due to simple analysis of THB section
