Abstract

An image pan–tilt system with a flat shape and a large aperture is proposed based on a symmetric integral imaging system. The proposed system comprises five lens arrays and two actuators. The image pan–tilt function is performed by shifting the two lens arrays located at the entrance side using two actuators. The displacements of the two lens arrays are less than one lens pitch; hence, the pan–tilt function can be performed in a short time. Moreover, the optical aperture of the proposed pan–tilt system can easily be enlarged by increasing the number of lenses in the lens arrays. The proposed technique is experimentally verified using a scaled-up model.
