Abstract
Flashover studies along the surface of cylindrical spacers were measured in SF6-, N2 and various SF6-N2 mixtures under uniform fields using direct applied voltages. The influence on the flashover voltage of a fixed protrusion in the vicinity of the spacer was studied. The distance of the protrusion from the spacer surface had a considerable effect on the flashover voltage. Details of the experimental results are presented in this paper.
