Abstract

The performance of low-cost adsorbent such as raw rice husk (RRH) fixed bed column in removing Pb 2+ from aqueous solution are studied in this work. Different column design parameters like bed height, flow rate and initial concentration are calculated. It is found that bed height, flow rate and initial concentration were important parameters for evaluating the efficiency of sorbents in continuous treatment process of effluents on pilot or industrial scale. The dynamics of adsorption process is modeled by bed depth service time (BDST), and indicating the validity of BDST model when applied to the continuous column studies.
