Abstract
Two five-coordinate gold(III) complexes of [Au(6,6′-dmbipy)Cl3] (1) and [Au(6,6′-dmbipy)Br3] (2) were prepared from the reactions of AuCl3 and AuBr3 with 6,6′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine (6,6′-dmbipy), respectively in mixture of CH3OH/CH3CN. Both complexes were characterized by IR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopies and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The NMR study confirmed the five-coordinated nature of titled complexes and also their stability in aprotic solvent, in temperature range from –30 to +70°C.
