Abstract
High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor fissile particles made from weak-acid ion exchange resins with compositions ranging from UO 2 plus excess carbon to UC 2 plus excess carbon were irradiated in test capsules. The fission product behavior in the particles was determined by electron microprobe analysis. The behavior of most fission products was dependent on the initial O/U ratio, and their overall chemical behavior is consistent with that for the phases calculated to be present.
