Abstract
Fishbone instability excited by electrons intokamak plasma is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Theanalysis of mode precession resonance indicates that the instability canbe excited by barely trapped suprathermal electrons. The fishboneinstability of electrons is more easily excited in the region of negativemagnetic shear than that of positive magnetic shear and it is firstobserved by using electron cyclotron resonance heating in an HL-1Mtokamak.
