Abstract
ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Disease Models & Mechanisms, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Monica Shukla is first author on ‘ Neuromuscular junction dysfunction in Lafora disease’, published in DMM. Monica is a PhD scholar in the lab of Professor S. Ganesh at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, investigating the influence of aberrant glycogen accumulation in neurodegenerative disorders, emphasising its effects on both the brain and muscles, and exploring how mitigating glycogen levels could alleviate the associated disease phenotype.
