Abstract
ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Amber Knapp-Wilson is co-first author on ‘Maintenance of complex I and its supercomplexes by NDUF-11 is essential for mitochondrial structure, function and health’, published in JCS. Amber conducted the research described in this article while a PhD student in the labs of Professor Ian Collinson and Professor Patricia Kuwabara at the University of Bristol, UK. She is now a medical student and part-time research associate in the lab of Professor Andrew Mumford at the University of Bristol, investigating the impact of pathogenic genetic variants on protein biochemistry and function.
