Abstract

The present study was aimed at identifying the relationship between traits of personality and attitude towards death among firefighters. The sample consisted of 160 firefighters (M = 31,6yr, SD = 7,4.) Subjects were administrated the Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire - ZKPQ and the Attitude Towards Death Scale. Results indicate that Neuroticism predicts: death anxiety, preference to slow death, contemplation of death, faith in life after death and paranormal beliefs about death. Aggression / Hostility predicts preference to fast death, Sociability predicts negatively faith in life after death. Impulsive Sensation Seeking predicts preference to fast death and beliefs about controlling death.
