Abstract

A review is presented of explosion statistics and reasons for them in critical industrial facilities of enterprises in various branches of Russian industry. Phases of substances are graded with respect to the danger of an explosion occurring and factors are analyzed that determine a very fine substances as dangerous. Results are shown graphically from experiments of the Norwegian professor Rolf Eckhoff for a study of the dependence of fire hazard indices for suspended dust on particle diameter. A logical task is set for the requirement of resolving questions for providing the safety of production processes connected with handling nanoparticles.
