Abstract

In this study, the controlling of mechanical ventilator device which is used for ventilation of patients whose respiration system has been disturbed was implemented with fuzzy logic controller. The simulation based on fuzzy was designed to determine FiO2 (the percentage of inspired oxygen) value on the positive pressure ventilation mode. By doing this, it was benefited from dynamics of the lung that are resistance and capacitance. Most ventilators used in intensive care units are controlled with open-loop controller. Clinicians must take patients' vicinity in this situation. The objective of study is to come to one's assistance to reduce workload by controlling FiO2, one of the parameters to be tracked by clinicians. Fuzzy controller has two inputs in this system. These are lung resistance and capacitance. Performed system is run with the pressure control ventilation (PCV) which is one of the most used modes among other ventilation modes. It was seen that the results obtained from simulation matched up with desired results.
