Abstract

This paper presents a new and simple voltage control strategy for three phase current source inverter (CSI) using finite-set model predictive control. The proposed method can ensure an interruptible power supply (UPS) for the local loads of an islanded grid connected CSI independently of the type of these loads. The control of the inverter's output voltages is performed using the discrete model prediction of the system, including the converter and output filter. The model is used to predict how the system variables will behave for each switching state of the converter, these predictions are then evaluated using a cost function that allow the controller to select the optimal control signals that will be applied on the power switches of the inverter in the next sampling interval. The obtained simulation results exhibit the effectiveness, the robustness, and the good performance of the method proposed.
