Abstract

Abstract The paper presents the Finite Element (FE) simulation of the flow of Aluminium alloy A357 through different Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) dies. The simulation involves creating a material model using user subroutines in ABAQUS to numerically analyze the flow behavior of the material. The viscosity and shear strain rate variations are presented for two different die configurations by varying the ram speeds and friction conditions. Sudden peaks in strain rate attributes to the rise in strain caused due to the channel angle of the die and fall in viscosity of the material under investigation. The obtained results thus validates the numerical model and are compared with the experimental results
