Abstract

In this paper, finite element methods for the problems of wave propagation in fluid-saturated porous media are discussed. Particular emphasis is laid on the problems of infinite media. For this case, a new kind of non-reflecting boundary conditions on artificial boundaries is developed. It is of a simple form and is convenient to be used. Then finite element formulas for the equations of waves in fluid-saturated porous media with the non-reflecting boundary condition mentioned above are given. The results of numerical experiments are presented, which have shown that the given non-reflecting boundary condition and numerical methods are effective.
