Abstract

We report the results of a measurement of the kinetic energies of the complementary fragments released in the spontaneous fission of252Cf. The pre-neutron emission values of the fragment masses are reconstructed starting from the energies measured. For low excitation energies of the fragments, six fine structures in the mass distribution are observed. These results are discussed referring to previous experimental data, and correlated with preferred even-even charge division in the fission process.
