Abstract
The epithelium of the uterus and fallopian tube undergo cyclic ultrastructural changes as the levels of feminine hormones fluctuate during the menstrual cycle. Other changes occur when pregnancy ensues. Marked alterations in the hormonal levels occur between term pregnancy and 72 hours post-partum. The ultrastructure of the fallopian tube reflects this change in hormone level. Specimens were obtained from human females at term pregnancy and 72 hours post-partum. The specimens were fixed with osmium tetroxide and embedded in Araldite. They were evaluated with a Philips 200 electron microscope.Ciliated and secretory cells were considered from the distal and proximal end of each pregnant and post-partum female.
