Abstract
AbstractThe purpose of the study is to identify the parent material with high adaptation and yielding capacity potential and a complex of agronomic characters for inclusion in a hybridization program based on the study of a collection of potato varieties. In the collection nursery, 86 varieties of various geographical origins were studied. The average yield of the studied varieties for the period 2018–2020 was 38.4 t/ha and ranged from 15.4 t/ha (2018) to 55.0 t/ha (2020). The potentially high-yield varieties include Provento, Impala, Geyser, Amalia, Rannespelyi, Elizaveta and Varmas having an adaptability coefficient (Ca = 1.28–1.01). The flexible varieties (bi = 0.84–1.14) include Zhukovsky rannii, Geyser, Amalia, Fresco, Provento, Alyi mestnyi, Impala, Anosta, Alvara, Elizaveta, Sibiryachka, Solnyshko and Sante. The intensive-type varieties (bi = 1,21–1,26) include Signal, Madeleine and Red Scatlett. The following varieties had a marketability of 83–97%: – Alvara, Anosta, Scarlet mestnyi, Vulkan, Varmas, Elizaveta, Zhukovsky rannii, Madeleine, Monoliza, Masai, Rannespelyi Sante, Solnyshko, Scarlet, Sibiryachka, Signal, Fiesta, Charoit, Evolution. Varieties Du-nun, Kamchatka, Otrada, Pamyati Rogacheva, Ryabinushka, Lazar were distinguished by a high tuber starch content (13.3–16.6%), while the reference value was 12.4%. Excellent tuber taste qualities (8.5–9.0 points) were obtained by the varieties Anosta, Aksamit, Bridzh, Bellarosa, Vulkan, Varmas, Zekura, Zenimaru, Kamchatka and Yubilei Zhukova. Sources that combine high yielding capacity and resistance to viral diseases and early blight were selected: Alvara, Vulkan, Elizaveta, Radonezhsky, Rannespelyi, Sappho, Solnyshko, Sibiryachka and Penzenskaya skorospelka. The selected varieties represent a valuable parent material for inclusion in the hybridization program.KeywordsSelectionCultivarPotatoesCollectionAdaptabilityPlasticityInitial materialEconomically valuable traits
