Abstract
With regard to the letter by T R and R Shelley in the October issue of Physics Bulletin (p407), we would like to make one or two points about the role and effectiveness of PER in recruiting in this area. PER currently places over 14000 people in jobs each year, spanning a complete range of professional, scientific, technical, managerial and executive occupations.
