Abstract
The article is a personal reflection on the major challenges that we are confronted with in the 21st century. The view of transformative learning is set out in a broad planetary context. Transformative education is viewed in an educational context. The author believes the challenges that we face are daunting, and there is a deep spiritual response that must be ventured that demands hope, compassion, and resilience.
