Abstract
AbstractThe evidence for the need to have further collaboration between systems engineering (SE) and project management (PM) is all around us: in the rampant overruns in our technology projects, in the increased internal organizational friction, in the clinging to archaic technologies for fear of what may come next. This paper investigates two leading guides for these organizations: the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook (SE) Handbook and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Research indicates three areas for collaboration that might benefit integrating the two: defining tasks, integrated risk management, and stakeholder management.
