Abstract

In the article the importance of financial business supply as a factor of international competitiveness of countries and regions in the context of the methodology of the Institute for Management Development (IMD – Lausanne, Switzerland) is shown. The author offers his own version of the methodology for assessing the international competitiveness of the country and its regions based on financial business supply. Estimates of financial business supply in Ukraine and its regions in the period before Russian aggression are shown and they are based on the IMD2012 indicators (the efficiency of banking system, stock market, financial management, etc.). As a result of research, the reasons of the lack of financial business support in Ukraine and its regions are determined and strategic trends of financial basis strengthening for business activities are substantiated. In general, the increase of the competitiveness of the country and its regions badly needs the improvement of financial business supply. For this, purposeful policy should be worked at national and regional levels and a number of specific measures should be implemented in its context. To comparatively assess competitive potential of financial business supply in Ukraine and its regions it is necessary to provide a similar study for the period of Russian aggression (since 2014), when territorial integrity of the country has been infringed, and the period thereafter.
