Abstract

The final part of Digital Electronics, a subject of the Degree in Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (UPV), is given by project-based teaching. In this part, a work has been implemented with the aim of developing the remote control of a robotic vehicle To do this, A vehicle has been designed based on a commercial kit and we have undergone the necessary modifications to control three types of movement (line-following by optical sensors, obstacle avoidance by ultrasonic sensors and remote control by optical sensors) The control is done by programming an ATMega328 micro controller on the Arduino NAND platform. In this way, the students must carry out the programs for the micro controller in order to achieve the best movement control in the three modalities. The final phase consists of a competition among students in each of the three modalities. In this way, it is intended to achieve both students' motivation and effective learning in a pleasant way but also in a competitive environment. This communication describes the teaching approach of the subject, the description of the robotic vehicle, the results obtained at class and the improvements and modifications that are underway.
