Abstract
In decentralised oil processing, purification has significant effects on vegetable oil quality. Through sedimentation or filtration, most of the particles are separated from the vegetable oil. Additional use of so-called safety filters with a defined pore width at the end of the oil purification process is specially important. Through this, impurities caused by the over-proportional increase of differential pressure in the safety filter can be avoided and faults in the oil filtration process can be detected. The filtration of cold-pressed rape-seed oil with a chamber filter press and the suitability of various safety filters was investigated.
