Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the philosophy of development as proposed by the Brazilian philosophers Álvaro Vieira Pinto (1909-1987) and Roland Corbisier (1914-2005). Departing from the examination of some of the main texts from those authors, we show that instead of a mere philosophical discourse on development, this proposal constitutes an autonomous philosophical science and that it takes as its main subject the condition of existence of collectivities. From philosophy of development emerges a paradigmatic platform that supports an ethics of development, a politics of development, an education of development, a sociology of underdeveloped countries and others that will be briefly presented, just as some of the main thesis and concepts underlying this science. We conclude indicating some future research lines.
