Abstract
O artigo analisa o filme Quilombo (19984) do diretor Carlos Diegues. O foco é entender como a história da escravidão negra está sendo retratada na obra através de novas abordagens cinematográficas surgidas a partir das décadas de 70 e 80, revisões historiográficas acerca da história da escravidão. Propondo uma abordagem metodológica em que o filme é um documento que permita perceber as características inerentes ao tempo em que é produzido, como também um discurso estético, investiga-se a obra pelas propriedades do material fílmico e suas implicações práticas.
