Abstract

Il saggio incentra il focus dell’indagine sulla rappresentazione della femminilita e della maschilita nel ciclo narrativo dell’autrice Louisa May Alcott: Piccole donne, Piccole donne crescono, Piccoli Uomini e I ragazzi di Jo. Partendo da un preliminare excursus sui principali eventi che hanno influenzato la vita della scrittrice americana, la ricerca intende analizzare le principali configurazioni che l’identita di genere assume nella tetralogia, sottolineando i segni di complessiva modernizzazione presenti nell’opera di Alcott, ma evidenziandone anche il permanere di un sostrato di potenziali contraddizioni e ambivalenze. The essay deals with the representation of femininity and masculinity in the most famous works of Louisa May Alcott: Little Women, Good Wives, Little Men and Jo’s Boys. Taking into account the main events that influenced the writer’s life, the essay analyzes the complex and rather ambiguous configuration of gender identity in Alcott’s works and the elements of modernization linked to her views on education.
